Dr. Claudine Fisher (Doctorat-ès-Lettres in French from Paris VIII, Highest Honors, and Agrégation-ès-Lettres in English,) author of La Cosmogonie d’Hélène Cixous, and editor of Gaétan Brulotte: une nouvelle écriture, wrote also several chapters in books about Anne Hébert, Madeleine Monette, Hélène Cixous, Paule Constant and a hundred articles and reviews on 20th and 21st centuries French literature, Québec and Francophone writers.
For thirty years, Dr. Fisher was Professor of French at Portland State University, then Director of the Canadian Studies program (3 PSU best teacher awards.) Concurrently, she was, for fourteen years, the Honorary Consul of France in Portland for the State of Oregon (Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques, then Officier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques.)
The “Claudine G. Fisher Endowed Scholarship in French” is a student award at Portland State University.
